GC, DW PRESTEGA SUGAR BEAR OF EXOTIC STYLE
breeder: Elena Kalinina
Such bright stars appear not frequently. Their appearance always drives the attention of both breeders, and uninitiated audience. How? From whom? What was the breeding program, care, presentation? It is impossible to overestimate significance of the fact, that the animal of top quality has appeared in breed, which is 30 years old only. All in all, what is the rout? Therefore we have met the owner of the breeder who told us that as a rule the birth of an animal of such quality precedes the hard work of the professional breeders who constantly move to the goal despite of failures and disappointments. Experienced breeder differs from the beginner - apart from experience he posses the intuition assisting all in all the achievement of the scheduled purpose.

One of examples of such success can be the birth of an exotic cat of brown tabby GC, DW Prestega Sugar Bear of Exotic Style in Prestega cattery, (breeder - Marina Panfilova). Her parents are the two cats from the famous American catteries: Persian blue tabby GC, NW Polcann`s Make-My-Day of Prestega, (breeders - Joyce and Bob Polcaro) and exotic brown tabby Bryn Mawr Betsy Brown of Prestega, from Bryn Mawr cattery, (breeders Werner and Irene Kachel). Each of the catteries. Besides each of the catteries is specialized on different breed: Polcann - persians, Bryn Mawr - exotics one. Marina was not afraid to make experiments, being led by her intuition she was awarede by two fairy brown-tabby exotics kittens: Sugar Bear & Tomaguchi. Certainly, the success was based not only on the intuition, but also on the fact that each of these breeders had a very strong family tree.

Father:
GC, NW Polcann`s Make-My-Day - the National Winner, 19th Best Cat, 2nd Best Tabby, the Best Blue Tabby of CFA 1997, the Best Tabby at the International Cat Show 1995.
The titles of the cat speak for him. Mother: Bryn Mawr Betsy Brown, was brought by Marina as a breeding quality, but she has a super pedigree, one of the strongest in Moscow. Both of the parents of this female have the best awards, i.e. are the National Winner of America (on CFA system).

Father: GC, NW Bryn Mawr Bagsy Malone, DM, won this title in 1997, became 4th Best Cat CFA of 1997.

Mother: GC, NW Jovan Miss USA of Bryn Mawr, DM has won this title in 1992, became 5th Best Kitten and 15th Best Cat CFA 93г. Besides of these titles she also has prefix a DM (Distinguished Merit). This award is achieved by the cats who produce our other award winners. In order to advance to the exalted status of a Distinguished Merit cat, a male has to produce 15 grands (or other DMs) and a female must produce five grands (or other DMs). In the second and third knee of this pedigree we also can see the animals with top CFA titles, such as:
GC,NW Jovan Buster Brown

GC,RW Bryn Mawr Murphy Brown, DM
GC,PR,NW Jovan Chocolate Chip of Sanova

GC,NW Jovan Miss America of Madamemerald, DM
GC,NW South Paw Gadzook, DM

etc.… That is why, having arrived to Marine I was shown a small kitten, which had been 4 weeks at that moment, I immediately understood that I couldn't help buying it later, and he will be one of the top representatives in the breed. By that time I've already been
breeding Exotics for several years already so my opinion for Marina was of much importance since in her turn she had been devoted to breeding Persians. These two breeds are different for sure, although exotic shorthair has been breeded on the basis of the Persians they still have difference in appearance. Marina at once has told me about the forthcoming difficulties, honorably notifying, that this male was of top show quality and the exhibition career has been necessary for him.Unfortunately there are 3 CFA clubs in Moscow only and the exhibitions are arranged no more than 4-5 times per year, in which the small amount of animals participates. So we decided that we should try our best and show Sugar Bear in Europe. On this topic our opinions coincided. I knew that maintenance and care is of much importance for the exhibition career. The cat besides the significant pedigree, type and other qualities of the breed should constantly keep excellent fit, which the breeder should care a lot for. Good condition and presentation can not be achieved by taking care of the cat only the day before the exhibition. Having brought him home, I began to prepare him to the future exhibition career at once.
